Over the last few weeks, Basel in Switzerland has been preparing itself for the world’s biggest designers and brands to descend on the beautiful city. Baselworld is the world’s largest luxury watch and jewellery conference and will be running from 27th March until the 3rd April.
The event dates back to 1912, and has grown exponentially since 1986 when manufacturers from all over the world were invited to display their work. An increase in yearly visitors required the event to find a larger venue and is now based MCH Groups’ exhibition halls. Baselworld receives over 89,000 visitors during the 8-day expo, all seeking for the latest in design and technology. Baselworld is the London Fashion week for watch manufacturers, and the place to be for the industry to find out the best trends for the coming season. Gucci, Puma, Rolex and Tudor regularly have stands to showcase their new design concepts.
Tens of thousands of tonnes of steel, plastic, glass and other construction material has made its way to Basel ready to be assembled for the many exhibitors attending. It is estimated that 7,000 loads of lorries will be delivered to cover everything needed for Baselworld. Over 20,000 workers specialising in construction, lighting and IT will also be called in to make the event possible
Amongst all of the craziness, you will be able to find the KSF Global team. During Baselworld 2014 our team will meet many of the top brands to discuss their watch and jewellery design process and their retail display needs. Having attended last year the KSF Global team are keen to catch up with old contacts while discovering the latest developments in watches and jewellery, which could affect retail design.
We are looking forward to being inspired!
