Technical Project Manager
Kibworth,
United Kingdom
Technical Project Manager – Retail Fixtures & Manufacturing
Salary: £35,000 per annum – negotiable depending on experience
Full-time | Permanent | Office-based
About the Role
KSF Global is looking for a practical, organised and technically minded Project Manager to join our growing UK team.
This is a varied role combining project management, technical design and some estimating, with project management being the primary focus.
You'll be involved from the early stages of a customer opportunity, supporting our Sales team with the technical input needed to help develop solutions and close the deal. Once a project is secured, you'll work closely with our Account team to take ownership of the project from initial brief and design development through to manufacture, quality control and final delivery. You'll coordinate with our customers, UK colleagues and our global technical and manufacturing teams to ensure projects are delivered successfully from start to completion.
We're particularly interested in candidates who combine a strong engineering education with practical manufacturing experience. An engineering or relevant technical qualification, together with a minimum of 5 years' relevant working experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment, is essential for this role.
You might already be working as a Project Manager, Project Engineer or Design Engineer, or perhaps you've developed your career from a hands-on manufacturing role in metalwork, fabrication, joinery, cabinet making, shopfitting or a similar environment before progressing into engineering, design or project management.
Whatever your career path, you'll need a practical understanding of manufacturing processes and how products are designed, engineered and made, alongside the technical knowledge and experience to confidently support projects from initial concept through to production and delivery.
What You'll Be Doing
- Managing multiple customer projects from brief through to manufacture and delivery.
- Coordinating project timescales, actions, costs, quality and key milestones.
- Communicating directly with customers, suppliers and our internal teams.
- Reviewing technical drawings and specifications and identifying potential manufacturing issues.
- Using SolidWorks to create initial concepts or make amendments to existing drawings, before detailed manufacturing drawings are completed by our technical team.
- Managing prototypes, samples, approvals and production requirements.
- Identifying project risks and resolving issues before they affect delivery.
- Providing support with estimating and project costing, including materials and manufacturing requirements.
- Looking for practical opportunities to improve designs, manufacturing methods and project costs.
What We're Looking For
You'll ideally have experience within manufacturing, engineering, shopfitting, retail fixtures or a similar technical environment, together with experience managing or coordinating projects.
You should be comfortable reading technical drawings and understanding how products are actually made, rather than simply managing a project programme.
Some working knowledge of SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software would be highly advantageous. You don't need to be an expert CAD designer — we're looking for someone capable of developing an initial idea, reviewing drawings and making amendments when required.
Experience of estimating or costing manufactured products would also be useful, although this isn't the main focus of the role.
Most importantly, we're looking for someone who is organised, practical, proactive and comfortable taking ownership of projects and solving problems.
What We Offer
- £35,000 per annum, negotiable depending on experience.
- Evolving personal career growth as the role and business continue to develop.
- A friendly, supportive team environment where you'll work closely with colleagues across the business.
- A technology-led working environment, with an emphasis on using modern systems and digital tools to improve how we work.
- Exposure to international manufacturing and supply-chain operations.
- The opportunity to work on projects for recognised retail and commercial brands.
- A varied role where no two projects are exactly the same.
- The opportunity to manage projects through the full lifecycle, from initial concept to finished product.
- Support in developing your project management, technical and commercial skills.
